Step 2: Learn about existing local services and outcomes

Before you can improve services, you need to know what the current pathway in your area looks like:

  • What services are available for people with diabetic foot problems?

  • How quickly are people seen?

  • What are the outcomes?

  • What are the costs?

This website contains information about foot care in your area, and can help you answer some of these questions.

The National Diabetes Footcare Audit and Diabetes Foot Care Profiles provide further information.

But it is likely that you will also need to gather additional local information about existing services to identify gaps in the pathway and areas where resources can be used more productively.
